So I totally forgot about this section and thought it would be good to show what I have been working on. I haven't done modeling for anatomy yet and am probably getting a bit ahead of myself. But I made the head so I wanted to try making the body to finish it off. I don't know how great it is but I tried modeling the body to the right size for her age using measurements like height etc and looking at references from the show itself. I have a video here if you want to take a look (wire frame as well).
I managed to not have any tris or ngons too which is plus but not sure about the hand area or the arm pits. I'll probably redo it anyway once I do modeling for anatomy. You can't see the hands that well so I have taken separate screen shots here:
Thanks Ryan. I have done a little bit of sculpting in Mudbox before but I rarely use it. Mainly because it was so hard to get the right shape when I knew I could get it done easier and have more control (over individual verts) in Maya but that's probably because I haven't had much experience yet with it. I did however use the new sculpting tools in Maya 2016 to help do the hair and parts of the face using tools like the relax, smooth and sculpt tool to help smooth the face and round out the hair on the top of the head. Here are some more wire frame screenshots too.
Yeah sculpting takes a little to get used to but in the end it is much more powerful that modelling the character by hand... that being said, it is often common practice to model the base by hand to get that shape you are after and then take it to sculpting to add all that extra detail and definition.. I would recommend just keep practicing it and you will improve!
Your topology looks good mate and the overall structure, form and shape of your character is working really well.. looking forward to seeing where you take it
