Postby joel.obrien » September 19th, 2016, 5:51 pm

First full attempt at a female character sculpt using blender.

And now I am currently working on a more cartoony male character also using blender.

Thanks Ryan I'll be sure to not go over the top with the muscles :D

I have decided to sculpt a couple full characters to get used to using Zbrush, here is my first character.

And here is the base mesh I used and will be using for others that I had made specifically for my character in Modelling For Anatomy

Thoughts on any of it would be great. :D

They look seriously good mate.. Look forward to seeing how they turn out in Maya.

Would love to see some close ups of the face and hands.

Thanks Ryan :D

Here are the hands and face that you wanted to see, the hands themselves haven't had much work done I kinda just rushed them but i'll get to them later, the face ended up receiving a little more care however I still have a fair amount of work to go with it.

Here is a side sculpt project that I am currently working on at the moment to improve my ZBrush skills.

that turtle looks great to.

So there isn't much to critique on your male model.

his thumb padding on the palm of his had might but a bit big. take a look at your had and take a look at the fleshy padding where the thumb flows into, I think you have yours extended a but much. check out the image below for where I think it should be pulled back too

as for the face, to be picky about it... it feels like his ears are a but flat and to small in scale.. however the scale feeling off might just be from the length of his face as after looking at reference your ears do look proportional.

But otherwise it looks awesome... keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback Ryan I can see what you mean with the hands I'll definitely be fixing that up later.

At the moment I've been working on my turtle playing with new brushes mostly, his fingers need some fixing and I'll need to add a new tail but besides that I think that he is coming together nicely.

I know that this is my sculpt for my Modelling For Anatomy assignment but I had figured that I'd show the completed hand with the new and improved thumb :D that now looks a million times better, it had ended up taking around 5 hours to finish.

Thanks for the help :D
