M3 Bradley - modelling practise

Postby ryan.ware » September 24th, 2014, 7:22 pm

Welp, Since its been a while.... years maybe since I've done any serious modelling I thought I would get back into with none other than something tanky.... Like this M3 Bradley Cavalry Fighting Vehicle.

Basically I've finished most of the blocking and am about ready to start getting in and start detailing the parts further.. the model is loosely based off the displayed reference image plus a somewhat crappy blueprint I found.. Will update as I progress.... slowly

wireframes in the sketchfab window

Spent 2 hours last night just working out some more details, roughed out a sort of asset list if you will of nuts bolts hinges and loop things.. unwrapped them noq and ready to place.. will save me a good couple of hours later down the track having to find them and unwrap them later.

also a good chunk of that time was spend testing to make sure the mechanics work in a believable way later for rigging.

went round and recapped some cylinders properly, based off off this sweet little tutorial

6 hours

Managed to get a heap more detailing done today. still neglecting the back of it for now.. will work my way around, will most likely need to redo the main chassis to incorporate interior.......If i can be bothered with the interior.... may as well I guess.

Done today
- Engine Vent
- Exhaust
- Reactive Armour
- Auto Cannon
- Right hand Optics
- Track Skirts
- Engine Bonnet

am dreading the crew hatches, quiet a bit of wizardry will need to go into that. here is an updated sketch fab if you want to check out the wireframes. may take a little bit to load.. 100k+ polys

So will you be animating it in the end too? It's quite the piece you have there.
